Ocean 193: A Culinary Experience In Provincetown
If you’re planning a trip to Provincetown or even just passing through Cape Cod, let me introduce you to a restaurant that truly left me speechless: Ocean 193. Tucked away with a gorgeous oceanfront view, this spot isn’t just about the food—it’s an experience. The restaurant features a beautifully designed indoor dining space and a charming outdoor deck overlooking the water. As soon as I walked in, I was completely taken by the atmosphere. It’s cozy and elevated- exactly the kind of place I love discovering when I travel. Sitting outside with the ocean breeze and panoramic views felt like a dream, and it only got better from there.
Right now, Ocean 193 is offering a tasting menu for just $34.99 per person—and let me tell you, this is an absolute steal for what you’re getting. Every dish was curated with such precision, and the flavors were fresh, bold, and beautifully balanced. The tasting menu is available until around the third week of May, and then they’ll be launching their new seasonal menu—which I already know I’ll be returning to Provincetown to try! Another thing that sets Ocean 193 apart is that they serve brunch every single day they’re open, which is surprisingly rare in the area and perfect for someone like me who loves a late, leisurely morning meal by the water.
From the moment we arrived, the service was truly next level. Our server and the owner were incredibly sweet and genuinely accommodating. We asked to sit outside and, without hesitation, they brought us blankets to keep warm—such a thoughtful gesture! Throughout the meal, they were attentive, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. That kind of warm hospitality made the evening feel even more special. This private dining experience is something I will genuinely remember forever.
Now onto the food—starting with the appetizers. We began with a roasted pear and passion fruit endive salad, which was light, flavorful, and incredibly fresh. Then came the whipped burrata salad, which paired creamy burrata with roasted tomatoes and basil. It was a classic combination done so well that I could have eaten it as a main.
But the real standout of the appetizers for me was the Ecuadorian prawn cocktail. If you know me, you know I love shrimp cocktail—and these Ecuadorian shrimp were something else. They were huge, sweet, and incredibly fresh, with a flavor and texture that took the dish to an entirely new level. Each of the appetizers that we tried were so different from each other, making them even more enjoyable.
As for the entrees—wow. Every single dish was a hit. First up was the grilled salmon with lobster sauce, which honestly surprised me. I’m not usually a big salmon fan, but this dish was so well-executed that I’d happily eat it every day. The salmon was cooked perfectly—moist and flaky—and the lobster sauce added this rich, buttery finish that tied everything together beautifully. Then came the crispy nori tuna. Think of it as a sushi lover’s dream: a tuna steak wrapped in seaweed and flash-fried. The outside was crisp, the inside was tender, and it was such a unique and flavorful take on tuna that I haven’t seen done quite like this before. The fish and chips were another major highlight. I’ve had a lot of fish and chips in my life, but these were easily the best I’ve ever tasted. The fish was seasoned perfectly, not bland like it often is elsewhere, and the fries were crispy and full of flavor—not just a filler side.
Finally, we tried the Caribbean cod with verblanc sauce, and while I usually gravitate toward savory dishes, this one—topped with candied papaya and mango—converted me. The blend of sweet and savory was so unexpected but worked beautifully, especially paired with the perfectly cooked fish and the buttery sauce. I ate every single one of those pieces of candied fruit with absolutely no hesitation.
I genuinely don’t say this lightly, but each entrée was among the best versions of that dish I’ve ever tried. Like I mentioned with the appetizers, no two dishes were similar, making this experience that much better. And just look at this presentation! On top of how delicious each item was, the presentation was incredible. I didn’t know that fish and chips could ever look aesthetic, but here we are.
And yes, somehow, after all of that, we had to make room for dessert—and thank goodness we did. We tried three desserts, and I loved them all. The lemon mousse cupcake was not only plated beautifully but had the perfect balance of citrus and sweetness. I love a good lemon dessert that isn’t overpowering, and this one hit the mark. Then came the peach empanada, which had a flaky crust and warm, juicy peach filling that was both comforting and elevated. But my personal favorite had to be the chocolate mousse. I’m a chocolate girly through and through, and this dessert had me in heaven. It was rich, silky, and completely irresistible—I’m still dreaming about it. Even after a full meal, I devoured every bite of the desserts, and I think that says everything you need to know about how good they were.
The cocktails and mocktails also deserve their own moment. We tried several drinks, including the spicy mango margarita (which had a serious kick!), a key lime martini (surprisingly good, even for someone like me who’s over key lime after living in Florida), and a chocolate martini (a classic that didn’t disappoint). The most unique cocktail to me was definitely the yellow cake martini—which, despite the name, was actually pink and tasted like dessert in a glass. Just like all of the food, the drinks were equally as delicious!
Beyond the alcoholic options, their mocktails were just as impressive. The guava mint mojito was delicious—it was refreshing, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. So often, mocktails are an afterthought, but Ocean 193 puts just as much love into them as their cocktails. They also offer nonalcoholic beer, coffee, and teas, so there’s something for everyone.
In every way, Ocean 193 blew me away. From the stunning ambiance and incredible ocean views, to the warm, genuine service, to the standout food and drinks, everything about the evening was perfect. I try a lot of restaurants when I travel, and it’s rare that one makes me feel this strongly. But Ocean 193 isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a must-visit destination in Provincetown. I would literally go back just to eat here again, and I already can’t wait to return. If you find yourself anywhere near the Cape, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Trust me—you’ll be dreaming about this meal for weeks!
