New Years in Toronto, Ontario

Celebrating New Year's Eve in Toronto was an unforgettable experience. After an exhausting journey—going to sleep at 2 am, waking up at 3 am for our early morning flight from Vermont to New York City, missing our connection, and then deciding to drive from New York to Toronto (over an 8 hour drive!) with brief stops in Pennsylvania for food and scenic views—we finally arrived in Toronto. Despite the rain and bustling crowds, the city's vibrant energy overcame everything. We headed to the Harbourfront to join the city's official New Year's Eve celebrations. The area was alive with excitement, featuring pop-up performances and a diverse food market offering cuisines from around the world, including Filipino and Mexican dishes.

New Year's Eve at Toronto's Harbourfront

As midnight approached, we were treated to a spectacular 10-minute fireworks display synchronized to music, illuminating Toronto's inner harbour. Positioned with a clear view of the CN Tower, we also enjoyed its colorful light display as we welcomed the new year. Though it was rainy and extremely cold out, this was a beautiful experience. Last year, we spent New Years in Niagara Falls, making it to the firework show right as it started. The show we saw this year in Toronto was spectacular, especially in comparison to the one we saw last year. If you’re debating going to Toronto for New Years, I’d highly recommend it- it’s something everyone should experience at least once. However, I hope you get better weather than we did!
